We really need to find a solution that prevents the insurrectionist Jordan from getting it. Democrats can reach out to those Republicans who won their seats in districts that Biden won in 2020. Perhaps they can convince them to join with the Democrats in voting for Jeffries. Or possibly if Republicans can nominate a more moderate from their Party (Reich suggests Fitzpatrick), and bring along at least five imperiled Republicans, then the Dems might join forces to support him.
Note that two days ago Jeffries said that informal discussions were underway to find a bi-partisan solution. And "some centrist Democrats have signaled that they’d be open to making a
deal with Republicans, though it’s unclear what that deal would look
like." Perhaps Reich's suggestion is it?
