Biden's new pick of Sec. of HHS

See this previous post where that awful pick Raimondo was being considered. She dropped out of consideration and I'm not sure why. But the progressive movement was loudly opposed and let Biden know it, so perhaps we had some influence on that. Point being, she was a terrible nominee and progressives are right to oppose those sorts of picks if we ever hope to have any say in his agenda.

Instead, now California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is the nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services. He has been a vocal supporter of Medicare For All. He also previously urged the Obama Admin to fight Big Pharma to lower drug prices. He has called for an end to exclusive drug patents when funding is provided by the government. He has voted for importing safe foreign drugs at lower prices.

This is a huge, positive turn-around for this most important position and we laud Biden for waking up to it. But we must also give ourselves credit for pushing him hard in this direction with our demands.
