The Parliamentarian recently came out with the opinion that the Senate could use the Reconciliation process for the infrastructure Bill and other things. But conservative stanchion Manchin won't support that use because he's still using the excuse that it inhibits by-partisanship. We know it's false because the Repugnacons have long ago proven they are not the least bit interested in any compromise with the Dems. To the contrary they have opposed and blocked everything they've proposed. And it's not like Stanch's constituency agrees with him since polling shows they do not. The more obvious reason is that Manchin agrees with Repugs on their corporate agenda and said obstruction.
So it's time to play hardball with him to force his votes. That means Biden and the Dems have to campaign hard in his district to expose him to his voters, thereby getting his voters to motivate him get with the program. Recall Reich discussing how LBJ handled his recalcitrant Dems who did something similar. Biden must apply the same kind of pressure that goes with his high office. And the Dems must pressure Biden to do it by their own veto power of their voting block. If the lone Stanch can exert such power with his vote imagine what the progressive block could do with theirs in pressuring Biden. Yes, it will cost time, money and political capital but it's what must be done to enact a progressive agenda. We simply cannot let Stanchion block us.
