Rising discusses the new poll showing the sharp increase in Repugs wanting a 3rd Party. The discussion notes that an actual 3rd Party won't happen. And that when push comes to shove people will choose one of the two Parties over the other.
But the poll does indicate the increasing dissatisfaction of Repug voters with their Party. This could be in part, as noted elsewhere, because the Party has been taken over by the Twitiots whose only strategy is to lie, cheat and steal. And some of the long-time Repugs, while still ideologically conservative, still value law and order.
So the poll indicates this as a real opportunity to win over some of the conservative vote by pushing hard on worker issues like fair wages, better benefits, health and safety protections and corporations paying their fair share of taxes to have the funding for social programs that help we the people. You know, progressive populist issues. To his credit Biden is moving in that direction, but we need much bolder moves on issues that other polls show we the people want, like Medicare For All and the Green New Deal.
We also need to purge the Dem Party of corporate campaign money, as that is seen as a corrupting influence by working people of any Party identification. That is partly why Twit won in the first place: Criticizing the establishment of both Parties. So the progressives have their job cut out for them, as they are on the working class side but must fight against the establishment in their own Party who more represent corporations and the professional class.
The opportunity is here now if the Party can take advantage of it. And the 46% of Democrats who also want a 3rd Party indicates their dissatisfaction with the establishment. If only the Democorps would listen to we the people we could clean up. But that is a Big If that remains to be seen.
