This epidemiologist from the American Federation of Scientists notes that the Delta variants are the main ones of concern due to being highly transmissible with a higher risk of hospitalization. Vaccination with one dose is only around 30% effective with two doses around 85% effective and a lowered 94% hospitalization efficacy. Delta also only needs 5-10 seconds of fleeting exposure to become infected. Delta is now 30% of new infections in the US and climbed there from 10% in two weeks. In about a month the surge will hit.
Israel, which has a 60% vaccination rate, is even seeing a surge. For places with a lower vax rate it's going to be pretty bad. Unvaxxed children under 12 are at increased risk and have a 10% hospitalization rate with the variant. The fully vaxxed elderly and immunosuppressed are also at greater risk with Delta. It's time to take this seriously and quit with the dangerous "this pandemic is over" care-free attitude.
