Thomas Frank: The history of populism

Recently someone said that the phrase 'progressive populism' is a contradiction. That's only when we accept the notion that populism is of the authoritarian kind. Frank provides a bit of history on the term, how it was corrupted, and the origins of the progressive populist movement to set the record straight. 

So those who maintain the myth are politically motivated to denigrate and disrupt a true progressive populist movement of the people. And unfortunately some in the liberal intelligentsia are sold on the myth because it flatters their self importance as elite, top-down managers of society. 

TFB: It ain't going to work anymore. We the people are here and we demand our agenda be implemented. The likes of Bernie and The Squad are our champions, hence why they are vilified by both the conservatives and the elite liberals sold on social engineering.
