Bad news. Even worse than we thought. 75% of new cases in Singapore are among the vaccinated. 74% of the vaccinated were involved in a July 4 outbreak in Provincetown MA, most showing symptoms with 7 hospitalized.
It causes more severe illness. It's more contagious than the common cold, even among the vaccinated. The viral loads of the vaccinated are similar to the unvaccinated. There is a higher risk of hospitalization and death for older age groups and the immunocompromised regardless of vaccination status. Boosters for this demographic will likely be required.
And this is disturbing, given the CDC only recommended wearing masks in areas of substantial or high infection: "The CDC’s revised mask guidance stops short of what the internal
document calls for. 'Given higher transmissibility and current vaccine
coverage, universal masking is essential to reduce transmission of the
Delta variant.'"
