She made these comments on June 29 in preparation for fully re-opening the State. Please pay heed. She said:
"If you’re not concerned about the variants, you are playing into that 'COVID is over' mentality. It’s a deadly virus, it’s not going to go away. This variant is serious. The delta variant in particular is of significant concern. [...] We’re not going to require it, but I think wearing masks inside in grocery stores and large gatherings is really important. And if you’re not going to get vaccinated, you’ve got to wear a mask."
Although given the gravity of the situation it is beyond me why NM does not have a requirement of proof of full vaccination to go without masks for attending large public events. To not do so is in direct contradiction to the claimed severity of the issue and the protection of public health. I guess this might be reconsidered when (not if) the spike hits us. But of course then it will be too late. Just more human health and life needlessly sacrificed for what? Individual freedom? Sickening. Literally.
