Tokyo is undergoing a big surge from the Delta variant and is now considering eliminating spectators from the Olympic games to curtail its spread. They are facing what we in the US should be but as yet are in denial: Delta is here and causing new spikes and new challenges. Now that Americans have started to taste a new freedom and an insatiable lust for a return to normal, will we too have the capacity to face reality and back off our premature reopening push to save our very lives?
