Voter suppression update

According to the NYT morning newsletter, 17 Republican States have passed laws making it harder to vote, with TX soon to be the 18th. Their excuse is voter fraud but the last election, as attested to by Republican States certifying the vote, there was virtually none so it's a lie. The real reason is that they know they can no longer win otherwise than to suppress the vote.

In addition to the suppression, this is even more insidious:

"So far, at least 14 states have enacted laws that give partisan officials more control over election oversight — potentially allowing those politicians to overturn an election result."

This is why the For the People Act must pass the Senate and the filibuster must be eliminated. Biden is scheduled to give a speech today on these Republican efforts but that is not enough. We need both him and Schumer to apply all of their considerably power over the likes of Manchin and Sinema to get this done. Anything less is surrendering to the fascist forces about to overtake our democracy.
