Hartmann: Today's Repugnacon Party

The following are the facts. Does this sound like democracy to you? Or something else?

Repugs are selling the Big Lie of voter fraud, when there is virtually none, to enact all sorts of voter suppression and purging laws. They are sending armed 'poll watchers' to frighten voters away from the polls. They are gerrymandering big time so that even when they lose the majority of votes they still send more reps to Congress. They are passing laws that allow corporations and the rich to steal from the working class for their own greed and power. They are outlawing abortion and encouraging vigilantes to pursue women. They embrace the fusion of church and state. They reject medical science which is costing human lives during a pandemic. They are taking bribes from fossil fuel companies and allowing them to continue to accelerate the climate crisis. They are outlawing protest. They are eliminating the teaching of history. They embrace and support violent, anti-government militia movements, even inciting them to storm Congress on Jan. 6. They've abandoned law and order. They work in tandem with right-wing media to propagate all of their lies to manipulate their followers into hating others.

PS: Yes, there are also the neoliberals in the Democratic Party. They too must be defeated. I argue we must take the side of the Progressive Caucus in the US, as they are the leading edge who set the prerequisite values, conditions and policies to move into something that might resemble the lofty visions of our aspirations.
