Continuing this post, I
honestly think that winning the hearts and minds of voters requires
strong progressive messaging with an even stronger commitment to follow
through on promised action. For me it was a positive sign that progs
held firm on vetoing the infrastructure deal unless and until they get
what they want from Build Back Better.
Now
what's interesting is that Jayapal said that the caucus would agree to
lowering the cost and the time period the policies were in effect, but
that all of their provisions must be maintained. If the cost was really
the issue then that satisfies the Democorps. But that isn't really the
issue, which is the prog provisions themselves that help we the people
and put limits on corporations and the wealthy. And THAT is the problem
because the Democorps are lackeys to those bribes.
So
progs have to draw those lines: Keep the good stuff over a shorter time
with less total cost; and draw the line with a fierce attack on the
Democorps as responsible for being against we the people to maintain
their bribes. Since leadership is also bought off on the bribes they
certainly ain't gonna do it.
To
reiterate: I strongly maintain that the above strategy shows we the
people that they are willing to fight for us. That's exactly what we want and
will continue to vote for including new progs that make and keep the
same commitment. This happens even if nothing passes, which shows they
have the courage of their convictions. If they cave yet again that
tells many of us prog voters they are too weak to be effective and hence
lose our full support.
