Pelosi once again is caving to the Democorps on Build Back Better, urging cuts to the program to make it more attractive to them. But Jayapal said no dice and is sticking to keeping the programs and just shortening the timeline. Here's hoping the Progressive Caucus demands it by continuing to use their veto power. Jayapal:
"If we need to cut some of them back to fewer number of years, we’d be
willing to do that. Why is that? Because we are
not going to pit child care against climate change. We’re not going to
pit housing against paid leave. We’re not going to pit seniors against
young people. Reducing
the number of years that the benefits are funded and making sure it’s
funded as quickly as possible and that the benefits are as universal as
possible, we think is critically important."
