The reality of worker shortages

The Repugnacon story said that the extra unemployment benefits of $300 a month were motivating lazy people from going back to work. But in those cruel states that removed it earlier than the federal end of benefits in September, their job reports proved that the two factors are unrelated. The real reasons for many not returning to work are  continuing unlivable wages, mothers who cannot afford child care given those wages, those with health risks not wanting to expose themselves to unsafe business practices during a pandemic, and given those factors those who are looking for a better deal than that typical abuse.

Of note is that those businesses offering a better deal have ample employees willing to work. It's only the cheap bastards that want to maintain the slave labor standards they're used to who are having a hiring problem. They refuse to face the reality that to get and retain employees they have to treat them like human beings instead of commodities to be abused for their personal profit. It's a sick economic model that just won't wake up to a humanitarian model that works for everyone, including employers.
