COVID cases surging

Surprise, surprise. Actually not if you've been following the data. Which of course most of you have not since you falsely assumed the pandemic was over. You behaved in ways that continued to spread it and harmed your loved ones and a lot of compromised people. This is on YOU!

According to this report:

"CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said COVID-related hospitalizations surged 19% over the last week and almost a third of Americans now live in areas where 'we urge local leaders to encourage use of prevention strategies like masks in public indoor settings and increasing access to testing and treatments.' [...] Walensky and other officials said failing to take steps now could leave the country underprepared for a larger surge in cases this fall."

These warnings are inconsistent with Biden's own behavior. "The president no longer wears masks in most settings and analysts say he is no longer treating COVID as his top priority." It's also inconsistent with the CDC's latest advice, which supports Biden's "it's all over so let's party" attitude influencing the general public.

Yeah yeah, I hear your lame excuse we have to get on with our lives. But that flies in the face of a continuing pandemic that is still hurting a lot of people, especially the most vulnerable. Then there's long COVID.* They can't get on with their lives because of YOU! But what the hell, as long as it doesn't affect you then screw them. It's the American way.

* Studies in the U.S. estimate that 10 to 30 percent of COVID-19 survivors develop long COVID. If so, 7.7 million to 23 million people in the U.S. may have developed long COVID as of February 2022. In January 2022, the Brookings Institution conducted a meta-analysis to suggest that long COVID may be responsible for over 1 million workers being out of the labor force at any given time."
