Just came out today. Bottom line is that individuals must take responsibility for themselves and others. CDC still recommends vaccination and boosters, as well as masks in high risk areas. But again it's up to individuals to be responsible, as CDC must also consider "reducing barriers to social, educational, and economic activity."
Given the current stats on transmission levels (1st chart below) we can safely say individuals don't really give a shit as long as they or their loved ones don't get hospitalized or die. And yet we still have a significant numbers in those categories, including among the vaccinated and boosted (next charts for NM in the last 4 weeks). Seems "reducing barriers to social, educational, and economic activity" take precedence.
As for those who are vulnerable, getting sick, have long COVID, are being hospitalized and dying: You're on your own. We're not going to be in the slightest inconvenienced for you. This is America after all.
