The importance of propaganda

The term 'propaganda' has a negative connotation indicating it is based on lies. There is no question that some big lie in its application, like Trump and the fascists. 

And yet one can apply it while using facts and telling the truth. However those who do so much prefer the term 'framing' to give it a legitimate grounding. Cognitive science shows that all reasoning is 'motivated,' so reaching and influencing people requires presenting facts in a way that appeals to our higher motivations and values. Liberals and progressives then need to learn the science and art of positive, 'warm' propaganda instead of falsely believing all they need do is present the facts and abstract policy.
