Confirmed by this NYT story. Part of the deal that McCarthy made with the House MAGAts was to propose a rule in their anti-democracy subcommittee which allows them to see ongoing DOJ criminal investigations. How curious, since said MAGAts are the ones likely under the Jan. 6 insurrection investigation. You know, the ones who wanted preemptive pardons. That's what they're about: Trying to cover their guilty criminal asses instead of doing something for the American people.
Kirschner fortunately thinks that DOJ will thwart any such attempt by challenging it in court. And further that any federal court will strike down such an absurd attempt at destroying the Constitutional separation of powers. But if it goes to the Supreme Corp I'm not so sure.
