Kirschner discusses the NY Times report on the topic. Trumpler didn't like that the Mueller Report documented over 140 contacts between his Administration and Russia, as well as indicating that Trumpler could be prosecuted for several instances of obstruction of justice. So he had Barr appoint a Special Counsel, Durham, to investigate the Mueller Report in order to smear it. Now as that farce is coming to a conclusion it found no evidence of any wrongdoing in the Mueller Report.
Furthermore, Kirschner discusses that when Barr and Durham went looking for evidence to support their lie they were confronted with evidence of Trumpler's financial crimes. Instead of appointing a different Special Counsel to investigate that they instead did it themselves and swept that evidence under the rug.
It is just further evidence that Barr's job was nothing more than to cover for Trumpler. And in that process likely committed a number of crimes himself. Barr really needs to be investigated by the current DOJ and also be held accountable.
