The article is about how Buttigieg didn't do his regulatory job thereby enabling the conditions which led to the Southwest debacle. And how liberal media will never report that while of course conservative media is having a field day. He calls this "The Algorithm: An information ecosystem in which news outlets promote or suppress facts based on whether those facts will flatter or offend their audience’s partisan impulses."
Sirota defends that 'news' has to be honest and as objective as possible in reporting on stories that challenge our preferred biases and narratives. In this case it's Buttigieg's failures. On the other side it's Harumpf's many crimes and abuses. It's a broader imperative for all of us to examine how our biases color what we want to hear instead of considering the facts. We have to be more flexible and open-minded to change our story when faced with evidence. Only then can we have any common ground to move forward in realizing our democratic ideals. One of which is a media we can trust to give us the actual news.Join the resistance: Do no harm/take no shit. My idiosyncratic and confluent bricolage of progressive politics, linguistic framing, the collaborative commons, next generation cognitive neuroscience, American pragmatism, de/reconstruction, dynamic systems, embodied realism, psychodynamics, aesthetics. It's not much but it's something.
