This is encouraging news. "The move will be seen as a major escalation of Smith's probe into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the election, and suggests that Smith's investigation has entered a more advanced stage."
Special counsel Smith issued the subpoena after Pence has stalled for months to cooperate with the investigation. Pence has all along has claimed executive privilege. However his recent book details some of his communications with Trumpler so this might open the door to override some of those claims.
Pence's testimony might be the cherry on top of the investigation that finally brings Trumpler to justice.
