I remember listening to this as a teenager. The bridge has always fascinated me. I couldn't articulate why back then but now I think it relates to a break with the typical, conscious beat. It's an interruption or eruption into more of the subconscious, and how it relates to the conscious mind. The lyrics also point to the wildness of Africa that is "full of grace" and the "savior of the human race."
