Godfather of AI now afraid of it

From this article:

"Dr. Geoffrey Hinton is an AI pioneer [... who made] the tech that underlies many AI systems today. [...]  Hinton is perhaps best known for his development of the backpropagation algorithm."

He thinks "tools like ChatGPT or Google's Bard are fundamentally dangerous" because "it is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things." He "worries about the burgeoning world of fake imagery and text, noting that most people won't be able to easily tell 'what is true anymore.'"

With all the constant propaganda and gaslighting we already have a hard time discerning the truth anymore. With these new tools exponentially augmenting the propaganda it makes such discernment all the harder.
