That is, the legislature can ignore the vote of the people and appoint who they want. You can rest assured that if it passes it will just be the beginning of other Repugnantcon controlled States following in lockstep. It is a clear sign that their Party has abandoned democracy altogether and should scare the shit out of you if you haven't yet been paying attention.
