I
do think that Biden genuinely wants to curtail the deaths of innocent
civilians. Hence his efforts to at least ask them to be more careful. He
has also been instrumental in getting at least temporary cease fires
for humanitarian aid. And yet Israel will not budge any further and instead backslides.
So
I'm wondering what hold Israel has over the US? What do we get out of
our relationship? It doesn't seem that it's just that they are the only
nominal democracy in the area, as they are barely that. Is it their
military might, much of which we supply, that keeps the middle east
somewhat stable and prevents sliding into a world war? What is it
exactly?
