My opinion on Biden has shifted

This occurred while watching his televised press conference last night. Given his natural aging process causing his continued gaffs, and that his aging will only continue and accelerate, I doubt that he will be able to handle one of the most difficult and demanding jobs on the planet for another four years.

But the main issue at hand that is causing so much consternation is whether he can defeat Trumpler again, an absolute necessity. And if not him then who can? Using the aggregated polls at fivethirtyeight.com, Trumpler is leading Biden by about 2%, a virtual toss up. I don't see that they have this overall aggregate for the other possible Dem candidates, just individual  polls. The most likely and best replacement would be Harris, and those individual polls vary from her up by 2 to down by 7 against Trumpler. So the overall aggregate would be close to what it is for Biden. Note that The Hill has averaged 57 polls to show that Trumpler leads her by 1.1%, close to Biden's numbers.

Biden admitted in the press conference that if there was another candidate who fares better he would support them. But he's right that the polls right now provide no evidence of that. If the polling continues in this range it seems Biden is still the best choice to defeat the wannabe dictator. Of course that will also require that the Dem Party unify behind him, as the internal Party fighting works in Trumper's favor. And the agreed upon bottom line is that Trumpler must be defeated.

So unless Biden's detractors in the Party can provide proof that a viable replacement can defeat Trumpler, something they have not done to date, there is no more time to waste. We must direct all of our energy to a relentless, full-scale attack on Trumpler going forward if we have any chance of defeating him.

That Biden will likely not be able to finish another term is irrelevant to us winning right now. Harris will always be in the wings to take over for him if and when it is necessary. We have to win it first.
