I've heard some rationalize that Trump is necessary for us to learn a lesson. That's like saying a man who physically abuses his wife is necessary for her to learn about true love. Not it isn't, and neither is Trump necessary for us to learn anything, let alone that fascism is a complete horror. History already taught us this lesson, over and over. We're just too stupid to learn and fascists know it.
