FrameLab: Newsom appeasing the right was a disaster

Newsom thought by engaging MAGA on his podcast that it would show he's willing to span political divides to find common ground. The polls are in and it was a disaster. His favorability ratings dropped considerably. He alienated core supporters, didn't gain any conservative support, and from both sides he appeared inauthentic. 

Since trying to appease the stubborn right is futile then he, and Democrats generally, need to stand strong for progressive values and show some spine depending them while strongly attacking our fascist opponents. Polls show that's what we want and demand. And we won't support Dems who won't give it to us. To wit, look who is ruining our lives now.
