They note that we must appeal to economic fairness via our contract with the government. Our deal with them is that if we work hard we will be rewarded with fair compensation and benefits. And that means a guarantee for everyone with the government enacting fair labor laws and ensuring livable wages and safe working conditions. 

You can see from Kohlberg's moral developmental scale that the above presupposes the post-conventional stages emphasizing the social contract and universal ethical principles. That of course was the Enlightenment goal as enacted through public education. Which also depends on a democratic political system. Hence the fascist attacks on that our educational and political system due to moral degeneration.

But it was that democratic contract which founded our country based on such ideals as enshrined in the Constitution. So add to the above frame that it is truly American patriotism to return to our founding principles and ideals. And that the current fascist government is trying to destroy our once great country.
