"BREAKING: NYC Bar declares Trump AG pick Todd Blanche unfit to lead DOJ
The New York City Bar Association just delivered a stunning rebuke of Todd Blanche, formally urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to reject his nomination for Attorney General and warning that Trump's former personal lawyer is unfit to lead the Department of Justice.
In a blistering letter, the group accused Blanche of showing misplaced loyalty to Donald Trump instead of the Constitution, the rule of law, or the American people. That is a devastating charge against the man Trump wants to permanently install as the nation's top law enforcement official.
The opposition is growing fast. More than 1,200 former DOJ employees have already urged the Senate to reject Blanche, more than 2,600 attorneys have signed onto another opposition effort, and a coalition of 101 former judges has reportedly asked for a professional ethics investigation.
The NYC Bar pointed to a long list of concerns, including politically motivated prosecutions, violations of court orders, the handling of the Epstein files, the January 6 pardons, and Blanche's role in protecting Trump's personal interests while serving in the Justice Department.
The letter also warned that the Justice Department has been hollowed out under Blanche's tenure, with thousands of employees leaving as judges increasingly rebuke DOJ lawyers for false, incomplete, or misleading statements in court.
This is bigger than one nomination. Trump wants an Attorney General who will serve him personally, and the legal community is now sounding the alarm that Todd Blanche does not meet the standard required to lead an independent Department of Justice."
