Acts pull out of Sheeran tour over Maclemore ouster

Sheeran's promoter kicked out opening act Maclemore for this criticism of Israeli policy. Mac even qualified his comments: "To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters, criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide, it in no way is criticism of you." Nonetheless the promoter said it was antisemitic when it clearly was not. Several other acts pulled out of the tour supporting Maclemore's freedom of speech and in solidarity against Israeli policy.

Sheeran said it was not his choice to do it and wants to remain apolitical. To me it is an act of selfish callousness and privilege to hide from atrocious political realities that his popular platform could influence. Of course then he'd lose his billionaire promoter and some of his own wealth because of it but still be rich. Oh boo fucking hoo.

US Supreme Court denies Trump on mail-in voting

According to the SCOTUS 7-2 decision, the majority wrote that Trump's stay request is denied and that "the Government is unlikely to succeed on the merits of its challenge to the District Court’s preliminary injunction." The District Court's preliminary injunction argued that USPS' "final rule in unconstitutional" and that opposing "Plaintiffs have established a substantial likelihood of success on this claim" (p. 25). That seems to agree that the entire Trump scheme is unconstitutional.
