Howard Roark, the protagonist in The Fountainhead, was based on William Edward Hickman. He kidnapped a girl for ransom, but instead of returning the girl murdered and dismembered her. In Rand's writings she idolized Hickman for his "unfeeling, pitiless selfishness."
And this is the basis for not only Rand but the Repugnacon Party's cruel and inhumane policies of harming people and society in the name of selfish greed and arrogance. You know, good ole-fashioned family values. Yeah, let's try to get along with that.
