Grim feels it's inappropriate for the #forcethevote people to denigrate progressives who refused to go along with it. He also didn't think it was an appropriate parliamentary strategy to use on the Medicare for All issue on Pelosi's speakership.
Knight is frustrated with parliamentary arguments because that's exactly what the Demacorps always use to defeat any and all progressive proposals. He is also frustrated by some progressives who pushback against those who support #forcethevote as being unrealistic.
Grim reiterates that #forcethevote is not a smart tactic because it will only lose given Pelosi's command of parliamentary procedure. Knight however notes it forces a vote which will put Demacorps on the record so that they can't hide behind their spin. While this might lose the vote now on e.g. Medicare for All, it nevertheless shows we the people that progs are willing to fight for us which sets up future prog victories in elections.
Grim agrees with the underlying frustration with the establishment control of the Dem Party. That we must keep up the good fight against it. And that progressives should use the power of their voting block. He has been critical for The Squad not using that power. He reiterates though that disagreeing with the tactic of #forcethevote doesn't negate any of that. And that he was opposed to the tactic only at that particular time on the issue of Medicare for All in the vote to maintain Pelosi as Speaker. That had no shot of succeeding whereas using the tactic at a different point in time on a different issue might have some chance of at least partially succeeding.
A good question then becomes: When and where will the Squad or progressive caucus take a stand and use this tactic? Check out the video for the rest of the debate.
