Continuing this post, the Corp ruled that Arizona's law which "requires provisional ballots cast in the wrong precinct to be discarded" and that it is "illegal for most third parties to deliver ballots for others" does not violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and therefore those practices stand. They overturned the 9th Circuit decision that said both practices violated Section 2 in that they suppress the racial minority vote.
This is critical because the US Attorney General's lawsuit against Georgia voter suppression laws is also based on Section 2 with the same argument that it suppresses the racial minority vote. So the Corp's ruling sets a clear precedent of how that lawsuit will conclude with them when it arrives in their jurisdiction.
Therefore it is mandatory that the Senate pass the For the People Act which will override all of the Republican State efforts at suppression. And the Senate filibuster must be eliminated for that to happen. Hence this is where Biden and Democrats must stand and do whatever it takes to get it done. Unfortunately, even if passed it too will end up in the Supreme Corp likely with a similar fate.
Given that reality it is critical that Biden and the Democrats increase Justices on the Corp to combat its Republican ideological majority and do it now. We don't need a commission to look into it; we need action immediately. There is no more important issue that free and fair elections, for without them democracy loses to the fascist takeover.
But that battle too will require the sort of courage and commitment not yet evident in the above. As noted, they first must do what's necessary to end the filibuster and pass the For the People Act. Even if that fails later in the Corp it shows we the people that they are willing to fight for democracy. And it will show that they have what it takes to continue that fight in expanding the Corp so that it has a liberal majority. Democracy literally rests firmly on their shoulders. And that fight begins with ending the filibuster. If they can't do that then it's highly doubtful they'll have the guts to expand the Corp. Then it's game over for democracy.
