Uygur challenges Khanna on Build Back Better

As I noted earlier, it's true that the House progressives are betraying their promise to require that BBB pass the Senate first before voting for the infrastructure bill. Now it's just voting on the House version of BBB where it will then go to the Senate to be eviscerated by Manikin and Sinema with absolutely NO promise from either one that they will even vote for it. Cenk rightly challenges Khanna that doing so eliminates the leverage progressives had in the first place by drawing that red line.

Khanna then prevaricates that Biden has vague 'assurances' from those two Senators that they'll pass BBB. Again, Jayapal was clear and specific when she said: "There's too much on the line to accept a 'pinkie promise' deal." Unfortunately once again they are folding and not keeping promises. And it's disheartening to see Khanna making excuses for it like they always do.

Cenk agrees that yes, there are some good things left in the bill and we should be grateful for that. And Khanna does make a point that progress has been made in getting those good things in there and that's the best we can hope for in the current situation. But by accepting the compromise they lost the negotiation and let corporate influence once again dictate what is acceptable. Which further erodes democracy in the process along with our trust that Congress represents we the people. And that's why Dems lost in VA and will likely lose control in the mid-terms.
