Learn how to fight

I've been a long-time practitioner of martial Tai Ji Quan. Most people know it as merely a relaxing moving meditation. And granted, it is good for that. But it was originally designed as a martial art. And to get the most comprehensive benefits from it, even just for relaxation and health, knowing and applying in martially is mandatory.

Some of you will remember the old TV series Kung Fu. I really enjoyed that show because it put the martial side of the art in context. The ethical and human service aspects are part of the tradition, as well as knowing when to use it martially and to what degree. Learning the martial applications also transfer in applying how to fight in non-physical situations, e.g. in discussion and politics.

Knowing how to fight is critical in these times of a neo-fascist movement trying to destroy democracy and take over our government. It's high time we all learn how to do it and do it well. Please consider taking martial arts training within an established tradition. We need effective and at the very least metaphorical warriors now more than perhaps ever.
