It was reported yesterday that COVID cases are up in NM but "hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths remain comparatively low." More effective treatments are partly responsible for the stats, as is natural immunity from vaccines and people recovering from an infection. They did admit that many at-home testing results are never reported. Returning to mask mandates is no longer a possibility.
One thing not discussed is long COVID, which is a significant issue. Per my prior report, depending on the valid medical study those with long-term symptoms range from 50% to 85% or more of reported cases. This is completely overlooked in the above rosy picture. The currently high transmission rates in most NM counties will create even more people with long COVID, a direct consequence of eliminating mask and social distancing recommendations.
Combine this with the fact that an increasing number of the vaccinated and even boosted make up increasingly larger % of new cases. NMDOH decided to quit even reporting this so that those so protected fail to observe the above recommendations and contribute to the increasing transmission rates. This has led to the public accepting that ongoing suffering and death is the price we pay to get back to normal to keep the economy running in an election year. At the very least reporting could be transparent about the motives and results of their narrative. But that might indeed put a damper on us 'getting back to normal' and we can't have that.
