From this interview:
"Take a look at Orban’s Hungary that you mentioned. That’s a striking case. Orban has created what he called an 'illiberal democracy.' It means no democracy. State power takes over, destroys the media, destroys the academic world, no political parties, no independent institutions. Created a reactionary, Christian nationalist, racist state. That’s Viktor Orban. That’s the ideal of the Republican Party. We see it. About a month ago, there was a conference in Budapest of the far right organizations in Europe, many with neo-fascist origins. In Budapest, naturally, because that’s the ideal. The star participant was the Conservative Political Action Conference. It’s basically the core of the Republican Party.
"They actively participated. Trump gave a speech lauding Orban’s vision
of the future. And Tucker Carlson went wild about it. He worships him in
a documentary about it. A couple weeks later, there was a conference in
Dallas, Texas, run by the same group, Conservative Political Action
Conference, core of the Republican Party. Who was the keynote speaker?
Viktor Orban. That’s the ideal to which we want to strive. Racist, fascist, Christian nationalist, illiberal society which
crushes independent thought, independent media, to the extent that they
are, and other institutions."
Some good news: Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva defeated the fascist Bolsonaro. And it was despite probable election tampering by the incumbent. Hopefully this is a good sign that democracy is making a comeback around the world. And that it comes back to the US too.
You can find it here. He encourages us to use these effective memes freely to influence the mid-term elections. He says about memes:
"Elections don’t hinge on memes. But they can influence public perception of how an election is unfolding—and that, in turn, can alter the appetite voters have for one side of a ballot battle or another. Memes can even—at the margins—change undecided voters’ hearts and minds."
Raskin is "one of the DOJ's most experienced national security prosecutors." This is a further indication that DOJ is moving closer to indicting Trump.
The hateful and lying rhetoric that incites it via Pox Views, Trump and his MAGA mob.
In fact, Big Liars. And you can add fascist to the list.
Oil companies are price gouging yet Dems refuse to make that obvious connection as a cause of inflation. And how Republicans receive big bribes from big oil to protect them. The Dems have even tested such ads which polled positively but still they don't run them. Seriously, WTF?
Funny skit.
He lays it out clearly that Republican solutions to inflation are what is causing it in the first place and will only make it worse.
Yes, the pandemic and Ukraine war are factors. But another significant factor is corporate greed. Democrats should be shouting this in at least every other campaign ad.
That is if they want to win. That they're not doing so leaves serious doubt in my mind that their corporate bribes are more important to them than democracy.
It's Marjorie Taylor Greene. If you vote for the Party you're voting for her.
Continuing this post, more on the significant differences between the US Parties. Democrats need to include this is their campaign ads pronto. Hartmann writes:
"That’s the main conclusion of a new study published this week in PLOS One, one of the world’s leading publications of peer-reviewed science across a wide variety of fields. The report, rigorously scientific, was funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), a division of the United States’ National Institutes of Health (NIH).
"They concluded that if, in 2019, 'liberals' (Democrats) had run all the Red states, then 171,030 fewer Americans would have died that year. On the other hand, if 'conservatives' (Republicans) had succeeded in imposing their healthcare, tax, labor, and gun policies on the Blue states, there would have been an additional 217,635 dead Americans."
The federal judge is a Trump appointee and a member of the Federalist Society, so no wonder. Armed and masked vigilantes are observing drop boxes in Maricopa County. In some cases these thugs are taking photos of the voters as well as their vehicle license. Yet the judge says that it's their free speech right.
Just another example of the crazed MAGA movement in Arizona, where paranoid candidates for Governor and Sec. of State think that the 2020 election was rigged and that Trump is really the President. And they're doing their best to prevent Democrats from voting at all.
Oz abused puppies. What's with these candidates and animal cruelty? It also seems to extend to humans they don't agree with.
Story here, study in PLOS ONE* here. Something to seriously consider when your friend identifies as Republican, as this is the result of their Party's policies.
"The Republican Party’s regressive policies are not just unpopular, but a new study out Wednesday suggests they are also deadly to those who live under them. Working-age mortality rates have been rising for decades across the United States, but premature deaths are more pronounced in states where 'conservative' policies predominate and less common in states that have adopted more 'liberal' policies."
"With their efforts to impose anti-union 'right-to-work'laws, ban
abortions, and curtail Medicaid, and their insistence on ignoring gun
violence and the life-threatening climate crisis, Republicans have
firmly established themselves in the camp that is actively increasing
premature deaths among the nation’s working-age population. Although there is a wide range of positions among Democrats that
stretch from more progressive to less so, lawmakers in the party are
overall much more likely than their GOP counterparts to support
life-affirming public goods and services of the sort detailed in the
study."
"With the midterm elections less than two weeks away, experts say it’s important for working-age Americans to know whether they are voting for officials who support right-wing policies that increase the risk of early death or those who favor humane interventions that can help people lead longer and healthier lives."
* "PLOS One is a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by the Public Library of Science (PLOS) since 2006. The journal covers primary research from any discipline within science and medicine."
She's supporting the Dems in AZ races because the Repub candidates are election deniers and therefore anti-democratic. So while indeed I'd disagree with her on a number of issues, a legitimate difference of opinion, we certainly agree on stopping the fascist forces taking over the Republican Party. I can retain friendships with Republicans if we can at least agree on that.
Like when they refuse to see the rising fascism in the Republican Party. It hasn't yet affected their privileged life so it cannot be true. Plus they have friends who identify as Republican who they're sure don't think that way and they want to keep those friendships. It's just a difference of opinion, right? Wrong.
Previously the Dems had a much better chance of retaining the Senate. Now it's down to 53% and they write that "the Senate is currently a toss up." The House has always seemed a lost cause and the Dems are now down to only an 18% chance of retaining control. Let's get out the vote people!
And that has to change.
"Can candidates simply lie in their paid ads? The short answer is yes. 'Unfortunately, you're allowed to lie,' said Tom Wheeler, former chair of the Federal Communications Commission under President Barack Obama."
Kirschner discusses how Thomas granted a temporary stay from Graham having to testify in the Georgia DA's election fraud case. Thomas' own wife tried to overturn the 2020 election so given that conflict of interest Thomas should be bared from interfering. Unfortunately there's no law to that effect and the Court itself is immune to ethical concerns.
Today the GA DA will respond to the Supremes on the stay so we'll see if Thomas, and perhaps the whole court, continues their corrupt protection of the coup.
The sketch playing off of Oz's slip-up in the debate acknowledging that he wants local political leaders involved in your reproductive health decisions.
Wolff explains that the Fed's increasing interest rates are only hurting workers by increasing unemployment. Hartmann previously speculated that it's politically motivated to hurt Democrats chances in the mid-terms.
One way we can help is by using our social media collaboration to make voters aware of the real cause on runaway inflation, corporate greed, and the insidious manipulations by Republicans and the Fed to blame Democrats to hide their complicity.
Of course they created these disasters but want to survive them while the rest of us die. Colbert addresses some of their questions on how to survive.
"This is the most important mid-term election in the modern history of our country. [...] The Republican Party is literally trying to undermine American democracy."
And that's just the beginning of his litany. Pay heed, organize and vote.
What you get with the lunatics in charge.
The reality is that if the Republican Party wins then for some of its recipients they will literally die a slow, horribly painful death. But Republicans don't care, as they are sure we are not entitled to life.
Not to worry though since GA is seeing to it that many black votes don't count.
"A poll released Tuesday found Black voters in Georgia are dissatisfied with Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. The survey, conducted by Black to the Future Action Fund and HIT
Strategies, polled 1,200 adults in North Carolina, Georgia and
California. The results found that 60 percent of Black voters in Georgia
have unfavorable or very unfavorable views of Kemp."

"To study the role of the spike protein in the severity of COVID-19 illnesses, researchers exposed 10 mice prone to develop severe disease to a hybrid version of the virus. Eight mice died. Social media posts say researchers created a dangerous new variant with an '80 PERCENT Kill Rate,' potentially leaving the false impression that this pertains to humans. Also, the hybrid virus used in the study had a lower mortality rate than the original virus had on mice."
He acknowledges that abortion is a critical issue. But Dems must also address economic issues with the same tenacity if they want to win. And no one does that better than Bernie. Not only do we have to promote the values and policies that will help the working class, we also have to show how the Republicans are fighting every single one of those proposals. And to date I have not seen many if any Dem candidates take him up on doing this. Why?
You might recall this retired, very conservative judge's statements before the Jan. 6 Committee (video below). He has now joined this SCOTUS case as co-counsel with Neal Katyal to argue against the Republican independent legislative theory, which claims legislatures have the sole right to determine election results.
Luttig said this case is "without question the most significant case in the history of our nation for American democracy. [...] There is literally no support at all in the Constitution. [...It is] antithetical to the Framers’ intent, the text, and the Constitution’s fundamental design and architecture."
Especially those who are running for office and will not accept election results if they lose. You know it's bad when the Republican Party's chief propagandist is frightened by this obvious fact.
Republicans are trying to get us to ignore the very real threats to democracy, truth and justice by focusing on inflation. Ironically corporations and the rich are the cause of rising prices and Repubs are the ones responsible for taking the bribes and willing to misdirect us. It is our job to focus voters on the above threats, make them aware of who is causing inflation and the Repubs backing them.
Presented by Mrs. Better Bowers. All the things mentioned would ordinarily elicit shame in a real Christian but Boebert is proud to wear this badge of honor.
Theme song from a kid show when I was a tyke.
The clip starts with Katie Porter using her infamous whiteboard to illustrate that corporate profits are the main factor driving inflation. Anna and her guest discuss further that while there are indeed increased corporate costs they use it as cover to greedily raise prices way beyond necessary to cover those costs. And yet the Fed raises interest rates without even acknowledging any of that, which only serves to further hurt workers while siphoning more profits to the top.
At the end they offer a few solutions to address the real causes reminiscent of Robert Reich: Price controls, fair corporate tax rates, ban stock buybacks. Anna notes though that both Parties are so invested in the status quo who bribe them that these realistic solutions are at best given lip service only, and only to cover for their continued corruption at our expense.
New TV series based on William Gibson's novel of the same name. A good review of it here gives it an 8.2 rating. The preview is below. I'm a big Gibson fan so really looking forward to this one.
While she lays out the values and facts to support them, she asks Rubio: "How gullible do you think Florida voters are?" to believe your promises and lies. Unfortunately too many of those voters are that gullible. I can only hope that she is getting through to enough of them to defeat that poser Rubio.
Noah jokes about this hard-hitting ad in a warped world run by Republicans. And that ain't no joke.
Per this report, showing obvious criminal intent:
"District Court Judge David O. Carter said Trump attorney John Eastman
needs to turn four emails over the House panel investigating the Jan. 6
Capitol attack because they are evidence that Trump and his allies took
part in a 'knowing misrepresentation of voter fraud numbers in Georgia
when seeking to overturn the election results in federal court.'"
These emails are exempt from attorney-client privilege due to the "crime fraud exception." True, Trump is an exceptional, fraudulent criminal and must be so charged, tried and convicted. It's long past time for this career crime boss to pay his debt to society.
Noticing a pattern here? Flower accused her of supporting the Jan. 6 insurrection and she denied she had anything to do with it. In this video are several clips of her proving she was complicit in inciting it. Again, a lie that can easily be disproved yet she tells it over and over again just like her sick hero Trump.
Shocking, I know. Many of these Republicans, having been given permission by Trump, just blatantly lie outright something that can be easily fact checked. In this case his opponent Ryan called him out for saying that Alex Jones is credible and Vance claimed he never said that. So here's the clip showing Vance's Tweet where he said exactly that and the video of him defending the comment.
Do we really want this lack of character in the US Senate? For Republicans obviously so.
He lays out exactly how they are the real cause of runaway inflation. He provides 5 ways to effectively curtail it: Tougher anti-trust enforcement; temporary windfall profits tax; ban corporate stock buy backs; higher taxes on the wealthy and corporations; stronger unions.
And there you have why corporate Dems pay only empty lip service to these solutions: It would threaten their bribes. They could likely win in the mid-terms if they genuinely defended them like Bernie. So it's not just the Republicans who put Party corruption over we the people.
Continuing this post, The Lever proves that Bernie is right that Democrats need to focus on economic issues for their mid-term campaigns. And yet they are not, instead focusing mainly on the abortion issue. Granted the latter is critical but not to the exclusion of the economy and what Dems can do to improve it.
Like Bernie they must attack the real causes of inflation, meaning greedy corporations who are raising prices way more than what is necessary to cover their increasing costs. But unfortunately the corporate Dems are afraid to do it because they like the bribes too much. And it is likely going to at least cost them the House and possibly the Senate.
In this ad they focus on Arizona. But it's the same battle all across the US. Your choice determines which one we will thrive with or suffer under.
He knows that Trumper extremists are beyond reach. But there are many more working class voters of any Party preference who can be persuaded. They have to feel that you sincerely and honestly represent them like Bernie does.
1st place Champions Jack and Jill.
Throwback Sunday.
They help us laugh at this horror show.
Taylor-Greene moved from the fringe to now represent the Party. They used to be subtle about their agenda with dog whistles but the rise of the MTGs represent their move to be loud and proud about it.
The Party no longer has a governing philosophy. Instead they're all about hate, fear, lies and manipulation in the service of power and big money. Thom provides the history and reasons of how and why it happened.
This gives me some hope that justice indeed matters and will be served.
Just like Samuel L. Jackson in Django Unchained. Granted these talking heads don't call it that but that's exactly how they describe Walker as the perfect white nationalist Republican black candidate.
We paid into the system our entire working lives. The meme below highlights the huge difference between Democrats and Republicans on honoring and supporting this earned benefit versus stealing it from us. Consider this carefully when you vote.
And they lied about it. They also shared this information with other intelligence agencies. Then there's the recently exposed FBI letter stating some of their agents supported the insurrection. So now we have to wonder why the national guard and other forces were not called out in advance to protect the Capitol and the people in it. How deep does this seditious conspiracy go?
"The vast weight of evidence presented so far has shown us that the central cause of Jan. 6 was one man, Donald Trump."
She noted that today's hearing would focus on Trump's state of mind and motivation. Trump had a pre-meditated plan to declare the election was stolen long before the vote was counted. He ignored the evidence of most all of his advisers that he lost the election and that there was no election fraud yet he repeatedly continued to lie about both and stoke fear, hate and violence in his followers. And he intentionally incited the riot on the Capitol knowing that the crowd was armed and after having several intelligence reports beforehand of their violent intentions. Trump took sick pleasure in the Capitol riot and refused to issue a statement for hours disbanding the crowd while ignoring repeated pleas from his advisers. He knew exactly what he was doing every step of the way but thought he was above the law.
The purpose of the Committee is to prevent this from ever happening again. And that threat continues and it may well succeed next time if Trump is not indicted and prosecuted for these crimes. The Committee has laid out more than enough evidence to put him and his co-conspirators behind bars for the rest of their lives. Now it's up to the Justice Department to do their duty for we the people and the Constitution.
Trump's appeal was for the 100 classified documents given back to the DOJ by the 11th Circuit Court to be overruled and made available to the special master. Thomas referred the matter to the whole Court which denied hearing the appeal with no dissents.
Next step is DOJ's appeal to the whole 11th Circuit to dismiss the special master altogether, which seems likely given their comments in the previous case. If Trump appeals that to the Supremes he'll likely be denied yet again.
So it's time for the DOJ to indict Trump in the documents case as soon as the mid-terms are over.
And they've said so out loud and proud. This is what you'll get if they take over the House and Senate. Is this what you really want? If not then do something about it.
"The House GOP's recently released policy agenda, which opens the door to Social Security and Medicare cuts—something Republican candidates have repeatedly hinted at on the campaign trail despite the programs' popularity."
Menendez is the Senate Foreign Relations Chairman and controls weapons sales to the Saudis. And he said he sees it as a deal breaker their recent conspiracy with Russia to cut oil production and thereby raise oil prices before our mid-terms: No more arms sales.
Krystal sees this as a significant shift in our previous kowtowing for oil. Saagar thinks it's more likely empty hot air since the US will do anything to keep feeding the oil monster. But Krystal thinks if the Dems retain the Senate that Menendez means business and will stick to it. And it's about time we stick it to the Saudis.
And more importantly, that we realize there is no winning the oil game so we must transition to renewables ASAP and make that dirty shit moot.
Garland used to be Tribe's research assistant, and they've known each other all the years since. Garland strongly believes in the rule of law, which law in Trump's case is overwhelming and convincing. However Garland is meticulous and will not bring a case of this magnitude until it is airtight. So be patient; it is coming. And justice will finally be served on Trump.
Just barely a satire.
Counter Republicans who are spinning crime as their main campaign strategy by constantly linking them with Trump, the worst criminal in the history of the US.
Christina Bobb, who signed the statement to DOJ claiming all documents had been returned when the search proved they had not, blamed Evan Corcoran who drafted it and told her to sign it. She also implicated Boris Epshteyn. However she insisted the statement contained the phrase "based upon the information that has been provided to me." Bobb has now retained criminal defense attorney John Lauro to represent her.
The rats are jumping ship and turning on each other in the fetid cesspool that is Trump. And it will all lead back to him until finally justice is served and he's in a federal prison and prevented from ever holding any public office ever again. Lock them up!
I'm not your steppin' stone.
Pox and their Pustules have fever blisters so badly they've gone completely unhinged.
Human social development did not proceed per the old myth. With the dawn of agriculture we did not immediately form a stratified culture with a small group of privileged owners and a lot of exploited laborers. For four thousand years we developed culturally and technologically without that sort of inequality.
Based on the extensive evidence in Graeber and Wengrow's book The Dawn of Everything it turns out that humanity made a choice that led to inequality supported by a theory of 'civilized' development to rationalize it. Hence we inheritors of the capitalistic society perhaps need to examine its roots and assumptions and make different choices going forward based on the growing archeological evidence?
Democracy Now interview here. An excerpt:
"The most important thing — the most important missing element, I think, in world understanding of Indigenous people has to do with the fact that Indigenous people in this world suffer from a handicap that others don’t have to face. And it has to do with the Doctrine of Discovery, which is a 15th century papal bull. Think of it as a bulletin from the pope saying what God really wants. And what this thing says, the Doctrine of Discovery, it says that explorers coming from inhabited lands were instructed by the pope to invade, capture and subdue the inhabitants and to reduce their persons to perpetual slavery, and to appropriate to himself and his successors all of their lands, kingdoms, possessions and goods, and to convert them to his use and profit. And please, don’t say, 'Oh, this is over. That’s the 15th century,' because it’s still on the books in U.S. law, Canadian law today. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg used it to defeat the Oneida Tribe in 2005. So the Doctrine of Discovery is still a real living reality in the lives of Indigenous people throughout the world that has been colonized."
Starts with jokes about Oz and Walker self-destructing. Or what should be self-destructing to any reasonable person not brainwashed by Pox and Fiends.
It lurks in the deep undermining all our constructions. Unless of course we build them with Cthulhu in mind so that they are flexible enough to change often and appropriately.
There are real conspiracies. The Jan. 6 Committee and the Justice Department are exposing some of them. We just need to know how to tell the difference.
He has the same accurate analysis as the liberal intellectuals but frames it in down-home, working-class language. Which is of course what the intellectuals need to do, as the working class is the majority of voting Americans who demand to be heard and represented. Take your cues from this guy.
So they can raise prices to hurt the US economy and help Republicans. Fascists have to stick together after all to destroy democracy. What we can do to combat their lies about higher gas prices is to continuously frame the blame on fascist OPEC+ and expose Republicans for helping them to destroy democracy.
Granted US oil policy is partly to blame because if we rapidly transitioned to renewal energy sources we'd no long need foreign oil with all of its anti-democratic manipulations. So we need to make this transition as fully and quickly as possible. But to do that we need progressives to win elections to implement such policy, so our job is two-fold: Stop the fascists and beat the oil-captured Democrats.
Dimitri brings out another side of Ben.
Voting for a Democrat because the Republican candidates in Arizona will not uphold the sanctity of elections.
Lincoln Project's video starts with a McConnell strategist saying they wanted to court the Trumpers without all the craziness, for it would give them a solid voting base. Now McConnell is realizing the price for that: The insanity is now their Party.
"Lay back and groove on a rainy day."
He calls out those who voted against the Inflation Reduction Act while calling it socialism. Yet they all then came begging for money from it to fund projects in their districts while taking credit for it. Joe said he's never before seen so many Republican socialists.
It's no coincidence that they are cutting production to raise prices before our mid-terms. They know it will hurt Democrats and help Republicans, Putin and Saudi Arabia. They want US Republicans to win because the latter emulates the same sort of corrupt, fascist ideology.
Then so does Putin while democracy loses. It is the stark, simple and unavoidable truth. That's what's at stake on November 8.
"A former member of the far-right Oath Keepers, John Zimmerman, testified as a witness in federal court on Thursday that he believed the group’s founder, Elmer Stewart Rhodes, was in communication with a U.S. Secret Service agent in the months before the Capitol riot."
Also see Wagner's report below. She goes into several more examples of the SS's collusion. This is a real seditious conspiracy that goes deep into the Trump administration. And justice will be served against these traitors.
The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are on trial for seditious conspiracy. And they have connections with the Trump White House. Funny that there no connections to Biden whatsoever.
"Look at how the time goes past."

This essay by Ezequiel Di Paolo is similar to what I described as hier(an)archical synplexity. Some excerpts of Di Paolo below:
"Enaction offers a philosophy that rejects the reductive individualism of the computational mainstream view. [...] The main tenet of the enactive approach is that we are always already biological, sensorimotor, and social bodies engaged in the ongoing adventure of making ourselves and our world together with others and together with our material environment."
"It is imperative, therefore, to criticize dualisms and in addition to this to establish a positive account both of the continuity and the difference between opposed terms. [...] This is the idea of dissolving barriers without erasing difference. In some cases, accepting boundaries but learning about the flows that cross them and how to see through them."
"We see dialectics at the root of enactive thinking. In 1976, a young Francisco Varela published a paper called 'Not one, not two,' which is a fitting summary of the attitude I am trying to describe, the attitude we should adopt towards any pervasive dualism."
"The first paramount aspect of dialectical thinking is that it aims at directing our thinking back towards the concrete. [...] Dialectics, and here I want to say enaction, is primarily a listening epistemology. [...] We listen to what’s out there and what’s in here, but more importantly, to what’s around and in-between."
