It's shit like this that demands the progressives be much more aggressive with their power. They tried to exercise it a while back when threatening to not vote for the infrastructure bill if Build Back Better didn't pass the Senate but they caved yet again to leadership's lies and manipulation. If/when Jeffries takes over leadership and the progressives don't play power politics then the progressive agenda, meaning what the majority of we voters want, is dead on arrival.
"Jeffries could be far more hostile to leftists if his past positions are a reflection of how he would lead; if Pelosi was a force that stopped progressives in their tracks, Jeffries could be a bludgeon actively forcing the progressive movement back, depending on how he decides to exercise his power."
His following statement gives a clue to how he'd treat progressives: "There will never be a moment where I bend the knee to hard-left democratic socialism."
