Jack Smith wants to further question Evan Corcoran before a grand jury. The latter claimed attorney-client privilege during previous grand jury testimony in the Mar-a-Lago documents case. But such privilege cannot be asserted if a client and attorney are engaged in, or are covering up, a crime. So now Smith is going to invoke the crime-fraud exception in further testimony.
While that indicates a crime was likely committed, it is not yet clear what that crime or crimes are specifically. But it does signal the investigation is proceeding apace and growing closer to criminal indictments.
