Tlaib used the phrase "from the river to the sea," a call for a Palestinian state that stretches from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean Sea. Tlaib claims it is "an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate." She further explains: "My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity."
Critics though "see it as a rejection of Israel's right to exist" and "eradicating Israel and Jews." They note that Hamas uses it as a rallying cry with that meaning. That and her other statements like "Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people" got her censured by the House with 22 Democrats voting in favor.
Yet Tlaib has never called for the end of Israel's right to exist, let alone its violent eradication. And she has never acted in that way, instead continually fighting for justice for the Palestinian people. So this seems more an argument over the meaning of words based on programmed indoctrination more than anything else. But shouldn't one's actions tell us how those words are used in practice rather than how others use them for their own purposes? Don't actions speak louder than words? Apparently not in the US House of Representatives.
