Dated 10/18/21 here. There were 4795 cases in the last 7 days. Since 2/1/21 among the vaccinated, 17.2% were breakthrough cases, 12.6% required hospitalization and 6.5% resulted in death. The first two were increases from the last report.
While NM is retaining its public indoor mask mandate, it nevertheless allows mask removal for eating in public. The latter is contradictory to the former and makes no sense, as if one cannot transmit COVID while eating. Given the stats and the risks, I strongly urge you not to eat indoors in public.
I know, what about businesses? They can continue to get along fine by selling takeout if you support them in that way. And/or offering outside eating. The pandemic risks of eating indoors in public far outweigh our mere convenience. Remember, if you want to take a personal risk that's one thing. But in this case you are risking the health and possibly lives of those around you. And for what exactly? Freedumb?
