Jan. 6 Sub-committee to determine criminal referral
It will consist of Cheney, Schiff, Lofgren and Raskin. These are the most strongly anti-Trump and pro-justice that Cousins thinks they will indeed vote for the referral. And they should, as the DOJ needs pressure and motivation. Plus the Committee also needs to show that all of their testimony and evidence inevitably leads to this conclusion.

Why some Repugs are dumping Trump
It's not all the horrible things Trump represents, as the Party is all in for that. It's just that saying it all out loud and proud is finally turning off a lot of voters. Given that Trump and his MAGAts won't stop, the Repugs will just go back to pretending they're not about those things and use the more subtle dog whistles to attract the same demographic.They created them and know without their base support they would never win again.
PS: They also know they'll never win again in a free and fair election. Hence their agenda to make voting more difficult, purge voting roles and have legislatures overturn election results. Another story for another day.

The House Ways and Means Committee has been fighting to get these since 2018 and won every battle. Now they've won in Trump's last resort with SCOTUS to prevent it. However there are only 6 weeks before the Rethugs take over and we know damn well Trump will just ignore it and not provide them.

Jayapal on Jeffries
Given the previous posts about Jeffries I would have liked her to say she'll work with him if he is willing to fight for a progressive agenda or otherwise she'd oppose him. Instead we got empty, happy rhetoric about going along with him to get along yet again. That and her previous surrender to Party leaders when she had real power leaves me with doubts about her leadership in the progressive caucus. And the caucus itself if they continue to back her leadership.

But what about fascism?
Continuing the last post, that is always the refrain from establishment Dems. Well at least we're not as bad as those Republican fascists who want to destroy democracy. Which is on the surface true but it's a false choice. What those Dems don't tell you is that the sort of neo-liberal oligarchy of which they are bribed stooges is exactly what sets up the preconditions for fascism to take over.
They rig the system for corporations and the rich which inevitably screws the working class. And we workers can plainly see the system is rigged against us so we want change. Because we are so downtrodden we are much more susceptible to a fascist demagogue who promises us that he's not part of that swamp and will dismantle it.
It's how we got Trump in the first place. When we eventually realized that he is nothing but a Big Liar and literally staged a coup to remain in power enough of us woke up and voted him out. It was pretty much the same dynamic in the mid-terms, since the Repug Party had gone full fascist. And yet here we are again, our choice full-fascism or to return to the corrupt conditions that led to it in the first place.
Since the system isn't going to change much with Jeffries taking over Dem leadership it's up to us to vote out the old guard in '24. All of them up for re-election. And continue to do so until they're all gone. We can no longer be manipulated that 'blue no matter who' is sufficient to fight fascism. We must choose progressives over incumbent Dems like Jeffries until we have the majority in the Party. Only then will we see such a majority run our country and neo-liberalism is itself defeated, thereby eliminating the looming threat of fascism. Only then will we have a true democracy of we the people.
From bad to worse in Dem House leadership
It's shit like this that demands the progressives be much more aggressive with their power. They tried to exercise it a while back when threatening to not vote for the infrastructure bill if Build Back Better didn't pass the Senate but they caved yet again to leadership's lies and manipulation. If/when Jeffries takes over leadership and the progressives don't play power politics then the progressive agenda, meaning what the majority of we voters want, is dead on arrival.

His following statement gives a clue to how he'd treat progressives: "There will never be a moment where I bend the knee to hard-left democratic socialism."

Just the latest in Musk's brilliant management to kill the platform. As everyone knows, freedom of speech includes inciting an insurrection and promoting fascism. Even Trump knows it's a dead horse, saying that he won't come back since he prefers his own loser Lie Social.
NMDOH COVID report 10/17/22 - 11/14/22
The report. We're averaging about 265 cases per day in this period but lately it's shot up to about 500 per day, with 855 new cases Friday. The percentages of cases and deaths are higher among those who are vaccinated and boosted, with hospitalizations not far behind.
Not that pretty much anyone cares anymore, even those who used to. We've been programmed to accept the disease and death so that we can go on pretending that everything is normal. That acceptance is itself one of the devastating illnesses of this pandemic.
